1) About KiwiScan

KiwiScan is a New Zealand–focused scam-awareness and scam-checking tool. It analyses text, links, and optional uploads to provide an indication of potential scam risk and recommended safety steps.

2) No professional advice

KiwiScan does not provide legal, financial, banking, cybersecurity, or law-enforcement advice. Results are informational only and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional or official advice.

Always verify directly with official organisations such as your bank, IRD, NZ Police, CERT NZ, or Netsafe.

3) Using the KiwiScan tool

• You may use KiwiScan for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• You must not use KiwiScan for unlawful, abusive, or malicious activity.
• You must not attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or bypass the service.
• You are responsible for how you act on the information provided.

4) Your content and safety

You choose what information to submit. Do not submit passwords, one-time codes (OTPs), PINs, or full card details.

If you submit personal or sensitive information, you do so at your own risk. Treat accidentally shared sensitive data as compromised and take immediate protective steps.

5) Accuracy and limitations

Scam detection is not perfect. KiwiScan may produce false positives or false negatives. Scammers constantly change tactics.

KiwiScan does not guarantee that content is safe or unsafe, and does not guarantee prevention of loss, harm, or damage.

6) Availability

KiwiScan is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service at any time without notice.

7) Intellectual property

The KiwiScan name, branding, site content, and underlying logic are owned by KiwiScan or its licensors. You may not copy, reuse, or redistribute them without permission.

8) Third-party links

KiwiScan may link to third-party websites (such as official reporting agencies). We are not responsible for third-party content or practices.

9) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KiwiScan is not liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from use of the site or reliance on its content.

10) Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold KiwiScan harmless from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these Terms.

11) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to New Zealand courts.

12) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of KiwiScan after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
